The weather in Idaho was wonderful today. So, we went to shopping
to a local supermarket, Broulim's after lunch. It's 15 minutes
walk from our apartment, and we can get any food we want there.
The price is not too different from Japan, I think.
I think potatoes, onions, oranges and apples are cheaper
here than Japan. Perhaps, what farmers can grow here are cheaper.
On the other hand, Idaho doesn't have an ocean, so shops don't
sell raw fish (our favorite).
At a bigger shop in an neighboring town, Idaho Falls, they
sell salmon and cod, but not so much.
Meat here aren't as cheap as we thought. (There's a cheaper
supermarket called Niku no Hanamasa back home.)
Because we don't have a car, we bought with us a small
shopping cart to carry our shoppings. We asked for an
empty box at the super and put our shopping in it.
Of course, there are not many people walking to a
supermarket for a week's shopping without a car in Idaho.
We haven't seen anyone with our shopping equipment.
On the way home, we met our friend, Brian on the street,
and he was surprised to see us walking with a week's
shopping. Brian and his wife go to Idaho Falls for
shopping every 2 weeks, so he offered to take us with
them next time.
Perhaps, we looked pitty without a car. Well, we are glad that
we walked this time!
今日はお天気もよかったので、昼過ぎにスーパーへお買い物に行きました。
私達のアパートからゆっくり行って１５分といったところにあり、
食料品はそこで何でもそろいます。
値段は日本とそんなに変わらないように思います。
特に安いのはジャガイモ・玉ねぎ・オレンジ・りんごあたりかな。
多分この辺でとれる物は安いのでしょう。
反対に、アイダホは海がないので生魚は一切売っていません。
隣町のアイダホ・フォールズにあるもうちょっと安くて大きいスーパーに、
サーモンとタラがちょこっと売っているだけです。
肉は思ったほど安くありませんでした。
（肉のハナマサの方が安いと思う）
車のない私達は、キャリーを持っていき、
帰りはダンボールをもらってそこに入れて運んできました。
もちろん徒歩で買い物に行く人は普通いないので、
そんな買出し風の人々にもお目にかかったことはありません。
帰りに敏君の知り合いにバッタリあったのですが、
彼ら夫婦は、２週間に一度車で隣町のアイダホ・フォールズに買い物に行くので
これからは一緒に連れて行ってくれると言っていました。
よほどかわいそうに見えたのかも。がんばって自力で行ってよかった！
