Our friends in Salt Lake came to see us around noon. They are all students
there, and it took them 4 hours to drive up here.
(We met the girl in the picture after 5 months?)
The boys who came together (from Okinawa) wanted to see the university campus,
so we toured the campus around.
Then, they took us to a local supermarket. However, when we came home,
we found strawberries in our plastic bag that we haven't bought!!
It wasn't listed on our receipt, and we wouldn't buy it because it's
expensive ($2.50)...
(We remember looking at them because it looked delicious.)
Toshi is the type of person who must go and take it back.
Yukei is the type of person who would take it?
We decided to take the middle ground, and called the supermarket.
Toshi: "Hi. I found strawberries in my bag, and I didn't buy them..."
Clerk: "OK. You can bring them back for us?"
Toshi: "We went shopping with our friend's car, by we don't have a car."
(This is how Yukie told Toshi to say.)
Clerk: "OK then, when is your birthday?"
Toshi: "It's August."
Clerk: "Well, happy birthday then! You don't have to return them."
So, this is the conversation Toshi had. We had strawberries as a present.
Perhaps, we would never buy these strawberries while we are in the States.
Yes! We will enjoy eating them. (They are big and they look very delicious.)
In the evening, young married couples gathered at church, and had the
"Pinewood Derby Race" and dinner.
This is a Grand Prix where we bring hand-made small cars, run them and
compete their speed. They chip wood, and made a cart. (There is a unique Derby Kit.)
(They have their own rules.) This seems to be a quite popular hobby in the US, and
they had a night to get together to make these cars. (We couldn't go then, so we watched
and ate dinner today.)
More than kids, dads were more excited to compete.
Next time, we want to join, too. Today's picture is a scene from the race and
photo shoot of our friends who came to see us.
昼に、ソルトレークで英語を学ぶ住む友人が
車で４時間以上かけて遊びにきてくれました。
（彼女に会うのは５ヶ月ぶりかな？）
一緒にきた男の子（沖縄出身）が、大学を見学したいとのことで、
大学の中を案内してあげたりしました。
その後、ついでに車でスーパーに買い物に連れて行ってもらったのですが、
買い物から帰ったら、買ったはずのない、イチゴが一緒に入っていました！
レシートにも入っていないし、高いから（2.5＄）買うはずないのに･･･。
（美味しそうだなぁ。と眺めた記憶はありますが）
敏君はそういう時、ちゃんと返しに行かなきゃっていうタイプ。
私は、もらっちゃう？というタイプなのですが、
中間を取って、スーパーに電話してもらいました。
敏「買っていないイチゴが入っていたんだけど･･･」
店員「じゃあ返しに来てくれる？」
敏「さっきは友達の車で行ったんだけど、うちには車ないんだ」
（こういう風に言えといったのは、私の入れ知恵です）
店員「じゃあ、君の誕生日はいつ？」
敏「８月だよ」
店員「誕生日おめでとう！返しにこなくていいよ。」
こんな会話がなされ、イチゴはプレゼントとして頂くことになりました。
おそらくアメリカにいる間に２度とは買わないイチゴ！
やったー！大切に食べるぞ。（大きくてとても美味しそうです）
そして夜は、教会に若夫婦が集り、「Pinewood Derby Race」＆食事会がありました。
これは、木を削って車を作り、（それ様のキットがあります）
それを走らせて速さを競う大会です。(それ様のレールもありました）
アメリカではかなりポピュラーな遊びらしく、
先日はそれを作る会もしていました。（うちは参加できず、今日は見る＆食べるだけ）
子ども達より、父親たちが、興奮しながら競っていました。
次回は我が家も参加してみたいです。
